What to consider before buying this model?

  • The NutriBullet Rx 1700 is designed with healthy eating lifestyle in mind. It features a patented nutrient extraction action: the blades break down food highly effectively, allowing your body to digest more easily and absorb as much nutrients as possible.
  • Blending is done automatically using pre-programmed settings - very easy to use. No on or off switch, no plunger, no timer needed.
  • This versatile machine also has soup-making mode that can provide hot, creamy soups in just minutes. It keeps all the fiber and nutrients so you gain the most nutritional value.
  • This blender might NOT be good choice for you if you enjoy more of a manual operation where you control how long the machine will blend, and at what speed.
Can provide hot, creamy soups in just minutes

A good and slightly lower cost alternative to model Rx might be the NutriBullet Pro 900.

This blender still gives you the high-performance nutrient extraction but does not give you some of the other features such as Smart Technology and SouperBlast.

This short video by the manufacturer talks about how the extraction works to give you the best nutrients available from your food. Take a look to see it in action:

Why go for a bullet smoothie maker?

There is a huge rise in the number of people who want to be living a healthier lifestyle.

Almost everyone struggles with a weight issue of some kind. You may be one of them. Or you may be looking to boost your nutrition.

Using this blender with the right ingredients will help you eat healthier, lose weight with vegetable smoothies and eliminate added dyes and preservatives from your meals. It gives you fresh options with natural flavors.

Doesn’t that sound great?

Another feature I liked about this blender is its design.

The sleek bullet shape is easy to clean; there is no bank of buttons to clean around. All the jars and lids are dishwasher safe. The blade rinses clean with warm soapy water.

It is also easy to store because it will fit nicely under your cabinets.

With this machine you control the ingredients. You can get up to 12 servings of fruits and vegetables in one serving.

Research shows eating at least 5 servings a day of fruits and vegetables helps in the fight against heart disease, strokes, and cancer.

You can make healthy drinks, soups and sauces that have no added preservatives while giving you only the freshest vitamins and minerals you can get. Plus you get the fiber as well.

My good friend Eloise had struggled most of her adult life with weight issues. She was considered “borderline” for developing diabetes. In addition, she wanted to have a child and was told by her doctor she needed to lose a significant amount of weight and it may help her chances.

She knew then that she would have to take charge of her daily nutrition in order to hopefully fulfill her dreams. She made some easy changes by making healthy smoothies and removing processed foods from her meal plans.

She has lost the weight and is feeling much better. She is still hoping for the baby, but the immediate benefit is that she now feels great, looks great and is no longer on the verge of developing diabetes.

At the time of her health crisis she did not know about this kind of appliance; so she struggled along with her basic, conventional blender.

While it worked, the Nutri Bullet would have made it much easier and probably better tasting due to the smooth consistency. She would have also had options to make soups.

Is NutriBuller RX 1700 for you?

Nutri Bullet is a leading brand in smoothie makers, also known for the Magic Bullet model.

The company (sometimes referred to as Nutrabullet) present their machines as "Nutrient Extractors", which they claim break down the ingredients so you get to the cellular level where the nutrients, vitamins and minerals are released for easier absorption by your body.

It also makes digestion easier and you get all the natural fiber from the fruits and vegetables - nothing is discarded.

Nutri Bullet is the original nutrient extracting company; offering a line of blenders with a cyclonic motion, powerful blades, and a strong power base to chop, pulverize and liquify your fruits and vegetables for delicious healthy smoothies, soups and sauces.

For delicious healthy smoothies, soups and sauces.

This model is top of the line and costs more than the other models from this brand.

But… is it for you? Let’s see:

This blender is a great choice if

  • Power is important to you to ensure it can handle ice, solid vegetables and frozen fruit.
  • You find the “Hands Free” and “SouperBlast” features appealing.
  • You are looking for great value for your money.
  • Ease of use and quick clean up are important to maintain your on-the-go lifestyle.

This blender might NOT be a great choice if

  • You are budget conscious and want to spend less.
If this is the case there are a couple of options:
NutriBullet has other models in their line that are less expensive and still offer the power and nutrient extraction that is so desired.
NutriBullet Pro 900 and Lean are all excellent models to check out.
If you compare the Pro 900 vs Nutribullet Rx, the most noticeable difference is in the less powerful motor and lack of heating element for soups.
For a different name brand check out the Nutri Ninja Auto IQ which has many pre-programs and some high-end features.
  • You have a sensitivity to noise.
It is rather loud during operation. If this would bother you, check out the similarly powered Jamba Juice Quiet Shield. It has 62% of the noise compared to a traditional blender, thanks to a shield that goes over the unit to mask the noise.
  • You prefer a more manual operation where you control the speeds and the times in the blender.
The NutriBullet 900 is a great alternative as it is not pre-programmed.

NutriBullet RX Reviews - Features & Benefits

The model Rx is a stylish, countertop, nutrient extractor blender, often considered the best Nutribullet model.

It has a powerful 1700-watt motor to supply the power and capability to break down the toughest ingredients and ice in just seconds.

In the box you will get the high-torque power base, extractor blade, SouperBlast pitcher with two piece lid, 32 oz. short cup with comfort lip ring, a 45-ounce oversized cup with easy pouring spout and a stay fresh lid.

In addition, you will receive a user’s guide and the Nutribullet recipes book “Nature’s Prescription for Optimum Health” - a guide book to healthy eating chock full of recipes.

This high-performance blender compared to other kitchen blenders falls mid-range for price and features.

It has some great features but is not high-end. We believe it is a more affordable alternative to the high-end Blendtec and Vitamix.

NutriBullet RX compared to other models

The NutriBullet Rx is top of the line for this brand, and has the most power and higher-end features. We generally found this line of smoothie makers to offer excellent value for the money.

For this section of the review we took a hard look at what actual users are saying about it and tried to focus on these features and, in some cases, shortcomings to give you a strong review so you can make an informed decision.

These are in the order of preference highest first to lowest last.

Ease of Use and Cleaning

The highest number of positive comments were about ease of use and ease of cleaning. We linked these two together because we believe they go hand in hand.

Most likely these comments came from people who have active lifestyles and are on the go. They need to manage their time with little fuss.

This appliance is extremely easy to use: just fill it, set it on the base and let it run until finished. You can be doing something else while it is running.

The clean up is just as easy: rinse the blades with warm soapy water and dry. The jars will fit in the top rack of the dishwasher OR wash in warm soapy water. This is a straightforward process that saves time from start to finish.

Power & Motor

This appliance is designed to pulverize even the toughest fruits and vegetables and bring them down to a nutrient-rich, tasty smoothie.

To achieve this, it features a 2.3 horsepower, 1700 watt motor. The motor is housed in the high-torque power base. Together with the patented blades, it is a really effective pulverizing machine.

Bottom line, it is very effective in making the kind of smoothies we love here - energizing, weight loss friendly, and health boosting.

Versatility - Functions & Jars

One of the great things about this powerhouse blender is its versatility and functions. First off there are actually three sizes of jars that you can use to make breakfast lunch or dinner for a single individual or for your whole family.

The stay fresh lids will also help your smoothie stay fresher longer - good when you want to keep leftovers for later.

A high-end function is the SouperBlast that makes soups in just 7 minutes. Toss your ingredients into the blender. It will start the blending. At a certain point in the blend cycle, the heat will turn on in the base and slowly heat your soup.

Investment - Value for the Money

We all want to get the best deal for our money. NutriBullet Rx adds value to their blender through the patented nutrient extractor blades and strong motor for its price range.

Another value-added benefit is the online support and community, as well as the famous Nutribullet cookbook, which includes some really great recipes for smoothies and soups.

If guarantee is an important consideration for you, bear in mind that you get only a standard 1-year warranty that covers defects in the materials and workmanship.

We didn’t like this relatively short warranty period, but it probably goes towards making this model more affordable. You do have the option to purchase an additional 4-year warranty if you don’t want to take the risk.

There is no limit to your healthy eating

Smart Technology - Auto Start & Stop

One of the amazing features of the NutriBullet Rx is its “SMART” technology - hands free operation.

Here's the deal:

Once your jar is filled and ready to blend, you set it on the base and let it go to work. It will automatically begin its cyclonic spinning and go through the pre-programmed blend cycle. It will automatically stop when the smoothie is ready for you to enjoy.

That way, you can use the time to do other things while your smoothie is being blended - you’ll appreciate it especially on a busy morning...

There is no limit to your healthy eating - try everything and perfect your recipes. Don’t be stuck with just smoothies; try pancakes, soups, sauces, dressings - all made with healthy foods and no added preservatives.

Noise Level

This model has a 1700-watt motor that makes some noise. It is a typical noise made by blenders that are chopping, grinding, and pulverizing foods and ice - especially with such a high power motor.

Here’s a great video that demonstrates making a pumpkin spice latte with the SouperBlast cycle.

We found there were several comments about leakage issues. Since it was the most prevalent complaint, besides noise, we checked further into the situation. There are two things that are important to know.

  1. The blade assembly must be tightened securely to the jar. There is a special tool that comes in the package that will assist with tightening and loosening.
Apparently, for those with smaller hands, weakness or arthritis conditions, it is difficult to tighten without using the tool.
Many folks mentioned that once they used the appropriate tool they no longer had issues with leaking.
  2. If you fill the ingredients past the fill line on the jar you will almost always have a leak. The fill lines are there for a purpose. By properly following this guideline the leaks were eliminated.

What are other customers saying?

I am always curious to learn what others are saying about the NutriBullet Rx, so I searched the internet looking for some reviews.

Most reviews by verified buyers were very positive, with only a small number of complaints, mainly concerning the rubber gasket being not so easy to remove from the blade assembly.

Alternatives to NutriBullet RX

There are a few alternatives that may be more appealing to you for various reasons:

A great low-cost alternative is the original NutriBullet. It still uses the patented extractor blades that give you the best nutrients for your improved healthy lifestyle.

It does not have the SouperBlast feature that makes soup in 7 minutes. It still has the 1-year warranty, as well as the online community support and recipe book. I’ve used it for a few years and can definitely recommend it. A great option at less than half the price.

This brand also has another strong rival, the Ninja Auto IQ bullet blender, and we've recently published an in-depth comparison of these two.

If you like the functionality and everything else about the NutriBullet Rx but feel the price is a bit steep, try for a certified refurbished model.

These models have been used for demonstrations or are floor models. Everything about them is inspected and gone over with a fine tooth comb. Broken or damaged parts are replaced with new parts. All jars and blades are replaced brand new. It is tested and inspected to rigorous standards. This option is about ¾ the price of a new NutriBullet Rx.

For a bit higher-end blender try the Nutri Ninja Auto-IQ 1500W Duo Nutrient Extraction Blender System.

This is a pre-programmed blender/extractor that has a 1500-watt motor that can crush, extract and pulverize tough veggies and ice. This option is about 1½ times the price of the NutriBullet Rx.

If you are choosing to live a healthier lifestyle, the NutriBullet Rx has the necessary qualities and features to help you on your quest.

It has auto start and auto stop feature which saves time. NutriBlast smoothies take just one minute. Grab and go.

The 1700 watts of power and the patented blade assembly make crushing ice and pulverizing fruits a snap. Single serve cups and ease of cleaning are value added features.

We have found this model to prove a strong competition to the higher-priced Vitamix and Blendtec, as well as Nutri Ninja.

Where to buy it?

Buying through Amazon, apart from being convenient, enables to compare prices, check out user reviews and contribute yours, and you get a selection of sub-models, colors and even options for certified refurbished units.

It's also usually the place where you would get the best price:
